Examples of Unique Wedding Invitations

Something to keep in mind when you are planning your wedding is that each and every part of your special day should be unique to you as a couple. Everything from the napkins to the songs you choose should have meaning to you and be special for the two of you as you begin your lives together. The same goes for the wedding invitations, which are sent out well before your wonderful day. Your wedding invites should be uniquely your own, and a well-chosen, appropriate invitation will give your guests more than just the date and time. The will also give your guests an overall idea of the two of you as a dating couple, and of what you will be as a married twosome.

There are several main ways that you can get unique wedding invitations, from the very simple changes you can make to the extravagant ideas that will make your invites into something that is truly your own.

Start Simple

First of all, you want to start simple in making your wedding invitations very unique. If you don't have a lot of time or money, there are small things that you can do to make sure your wedding invitations are as unique as possible. First of all, you need to choose a color and a style for the invitations. There are so many different designs to choose from today that you can create color combinations for the actual invite, the boarder or outline on the invite, and the font that is used for the text. The colors should complement each other, and should reflect colors which will be used in your ceremony. However, they can also be uniquely yours as well. For instance, if you are getting married in the fall, using bright reds and oranges can help your guests get in the mood for a fall wedding, well before fall has actually arrived. The colors are important, as well as the font-type that you are using. For a formal wedding, a more flowing font is good, and a fun and funky font can be used for a more casual type of wedding ceremony.

Get Unique

For out-and-out unique ideas, there are more things you can do than simply choose special colors and fonts. First of all, think about your day and what is special about it. For a winter wedding, there are some things that are associated with winter – such as snowflakes. A wedding invitation which is cut like a snowflake can be special and beautiful, and if you have the time you can even make sure that no two are alike, just like the real thing. Other elements of winter can be added in, like sparkly glitter, to mimic snow and ice. For a fall wedding, you can use the colors of autumn leaves and actually have the invitations be in the shape of autumn leaves. These can be beautiful and unique ideas that are truly your own. Cutting the edges of invitations shaped like leaves, or using real glitter can be ways to have unique wedding invitation ideas that people will talk about for years to come.

Outside The Box

Another option is to go outside the box when you are working on your wedding invitations, and completely move away from the paper invitation and envelop format. For instance, if you are having a small wedding on the beach, you might decide to send glass bottles with the invitation rolled up inside to each of your guests. Some sand in the bottom of the bottle, and a cork stuck in to the top, will make a beautiful and unique wedding invitation for you. If you are both computer buffs, try sending a CD Rom or a DVD with your information printed on it, and also encrypted on the CD. Some people have used found objects for their wedding invitations – because printing the information something like a pair of flip-flops, a wine glass, or another type of ornament, can make a unique and pretty invitation that is also something your guests will be able to treasure forever.

If you truly want to have a magical and memorable wedding, there are always going to be tricks that you can do to make sure that your wedding invitations match the level of memory you would like to have for you wedding in general. The bottom line is that your wedding day should be just as special as you both are as a couple, and just as special as you would like your marriage to be. All of the little parts of this are important in creating a theme. The wedding invitations, while they seem like only a small part of the big event, can set the tone for the entire wedding.

Choosing the Right Wedding Invitation

One of the largest expenses while getting married is the wedding invitation. You can spend a rather large amount of money on your wedding invitation if you have the funds. Many people view the wedding invitation as a highly important part of the wedding process. They see the wedding invitation as your first chance to show the world who you are as a couple. If you feel this way, you will want to spend a little extra time, money and effort on your wedding invitation. If you view them as simply a means to let everyone know about the wedding, there are many ways you can save money.

You will want to purchase your wedding invitation early. Whether you are having invitations printed professionally or you are going to print your own wedding invitation, you want to send out invitations with enough time for people to plan to make it to your nuptials. One very important thing about your wedding is having the people you care about present. If you don’t send out your wedding invitation with enough time, people might make other plans.

A fancy wedding invitation can be very expensive. Because of this, you should determine your overall wedding budget. Then, you should decide exactly what you want to spend on your wedding invitation. If you are looking to spend a lot of money, you might be able to afford nicer wedding invitation on thicker and more expensive paper. Professional printers will offer a wide range of options that can suit any needs. If you are looking to save money, you can make your own invitations from wedding stationary. You can save a lot of cash by opting to make your own wedding stationary rather than hire out. If you are planning to have a huge wedding, this can be a big undertaking.

If you are making the wedding invitation yourself, you should make sure you allow plenty of time. Addressing hundreds of envelopes is no small project and you will want to make sure that everyone on the list gets an invite. You don’t want to be rushing at the last minute to finish up your wedding invitation. You also want to give people time to RSVP so you can know exactly how many people are planning to show up. Weddings are expensive and it is certainly undesirable to have a lot of people fail to respond. You can make your own wedding invitation by going to a craft store. They will generally have paper with nice designs that you can put in your own printer. You can dress up your wedding invitation by adding ribbons or confetti.

Another way to save money on wedding stationary is to send out e-vites. An e-vite is an online invitation. You can use sources such as email or networking sites such as Facebook or Myspace to get the word out. This is also a great way to differentiate between who is coming to the reception and who is just invited to the ceremony. You can send e-vites to a large group of people for the wedding ceremony and then send out paper invitations to those invited to the reception. This can save a lot of money and cut back on confusion.

Wedding Invitations: When Do I Need To Order My Wedding Invitations?

Wedding Invitations: When Do I Need To Order My Wedding Invitations?

Apart from suggesting that you order your wedding invitations as far in advance of your wedding as possible, so that you have less to worry about as your wedding day gets closer, there are a number of factors to consider when identifying how long in advance you need to order your wedding invitations.

Firstly, you need to be aware that you need to post your wedding invitations a minimum of 6 weeks before your wedding date. If your wedding is being hosted on a holiday weekend you should send your invitations at least 8 weeks in advance, or if you are inviting guests from abroad, you should give 8-10 weeks’ notice. If you have a number of guests travelling from overseas, you might consider sending them Save the Date Cards when you have confirmed your wedding date, so that they can make travel arrangements.

You will then need to establish the lead-time of your favourite suppliers. Some companies can supply invitations within a couple of weeks, with more specialised suppliers requiring 2-3 months notice, prior to your required delivery date. You do not want to leave yourself in a position where you have to compromise on your ideal wedding invitations because you didn’t plan ahead. I would suggest that you do some research in respect of wedding stationery suppliers during the early stages of your wedding planning. You don’t need to place the order until you are ready but you will at least then know what your order deadline will be.

You should also consider how much time it will take you to write your invitations and address your envelopes. If you have all the information gathered before you begin (highly recommended), you may be able to complete this task in a day or two. Be aware of your own schedule. If you are extremely busy and you will only have an hour or two at a time to spend writing and addressing your invitations, you will need to make sure that you have received delivery of your invitations, well in advance. In the event that you are hiring a calligrapher to write your wedding invitations, again you should check how long it will take them to write your invitations.

Remember that your wedding invitations will announce your wedding to your family and close friends and you don’t want to rush the selection, ordering or personalisation processes. You will probably need to receive your wedding invitations 2-3 months in advance of your wedding date to allow enough time to write your invitations and to post them to your guests.

If you add the order lead-time of your preferred wedding invitation supplier to this timeframe, you will know exactly how long in advance of your wedding day that you will need to order your wedding invitations.
